New Hair

So, I've been concerned about the time and money it requires to take care of my hair in such a way that I will look presentable and not freeze to death with wet hair in below freezing temperatures. Yesterday my sister-in-law and I went to a salon and I had my hair relaxed. I haven't gotten to wash and do it myself yet, but the lady said that I'll be able to get it straight in 15-20 minutes now, and if I don't straighten it, I just have to put some product in it and it'll be wavy. I can't wash it for five days, but I'm anxious to do it myself and see what the reality is. Hopefully is easier, more managable hair for the limited time I have to get ready in the mornings as a sister missionary!

Snail Mail

Although I can only email immediate family, feel free to write snail mail! I promise to write back, even if it takes a few weeks. Here's my MTC address, where I will be as of November 18th:

Sister Fleming Anne Hydrick
Colorado Denver South Mission
Provo Missionary Training Center
2005 N 900 E
Provo, UT 84604

I believe I will be there for three weeks (don't have an official date yet) and after that I will be in Colorado. The address there is:

Sister Fleming Anne Hydrick
Colorado Denver South Mission
2001 E Easter Ave Ste 303
Centennial, CO 80122

I look forward to hearing from you!

The First Round of Goodbyes

Well, Friday was my last day of school at Williams and it was hard to say goodbye to my kiddos and many of the friends I've made while working there. I am so grateful for the chance I had to do this before going on my mission. I learned a lot from the experience that I think will help me be a better missionary. I think of the intensity with which I hope and pray that my students will be taken care of and I realize that it is just a small glimpse of the intensity with which Heavenly Father wants and needs us to take care of each other as His children. I hope that I remember that on the days that I meet with lots of rejection and cold snowy weather :)

On a lighter note, on Thursday the third grade team gave me a little surprise goodbye while the kids were at specials. Dawn Fiorella, the Language Arts/Social Studies teacher I worked with made a delicious brownie/cake and the teachers gave me a framed picture of each class as well as an inspirational book, a gift card and some M&Ms. Yum! I'm so glad to have a picture of my students. I imagine I'll put it on my desk where I study in the mornings, to help me remember Heavenly Father's love for His children and why I'm out there.

It's a little over two weeks until I leave. I'm busy getting ready to go and spending time with my amazing family. I found out that I enter the MTC at 12:45 on November 18th and I'll be set-apart as a missionary on November 16th. It's all going so fast!
